• Ethernet power supply management special-purpose chip TPS2383 principle and application

    Abstract: TPS2383 is the ethernet power source management chip which the Texas Instruments promotes newly, this chip mainly in equipment and so on concentrator, router, switchboard uses for to realize to the ethernet terminal device’s power source present. In the article introduced the TPS2383 major function and the I2C main line operating procedure, has given the TPS2383 model application electric circuit.

        Key word: IEEE 802.3af standard; TPS2383; Ethernet power supply; I2C main line

    The ethernet Chinese Journal of Power Sources standard has authorized in June, 2003 by IEEE, the serial number is IEEE 802.3af. This standard to network equipments and so on router, switchboard and concentrator through the ethernet electric cable to equipment and so on IP telephone, safety system as well as wireless LAN junction point provided power source’s way to carry on the stipulation.

        The Texas Instruments company relies on its leading system power source managerial technique, has promoted emerging facing “the ethernet power supply” market first model of power source management chip TPS2383, it provides the direct-current power supply through a standard ether mesh wire cable and transmits the data, but widely applies in mid-span equipment and so on ethernet switchboard, router, concentrator (Mid-span).

    The TPS2383 chief feature is as follows:

    * may carry on the power supply management to eight ethernet ports;

    * has 12 real-time electric currents and the voltage measurement functions;

    * has the AC broken line measuring ability;

    * has the standard I2C serial interface, simultaneously has functions and so on light isolation;

    * each port condition available bi-color LED demonstration;

    * may to add the electricity, send a telegram the process the electric current rate of change to carry on the control, reduces the electromagnetic radiation disturbance;
